REVIEW: FAVOURITE NYX PRODUCTS

I've been using NYX products for a while now so I thought I should do a review for you today as I think they're great quality and definitely worth the purchase!

The first product I ever purchased from NYX was the Jumbo Eye Pencil in the shade 604 Milk
I love this because it's a great product to use as an eyeshadow base, as it not only provides a great foundation for any eye shadows applied on top (which makes them last a lot longer), but the colour of the pencil also means that anything applied on top looks very bright and vibrant.

Then we come to the Soft Matte Lip Cream (mine's in the shade Milan), which is definitely my favourite NYX product by far - simply because it looks absolutely beautiful on my lips. I've only tried the shade Milan so far, which is a gorgeous pink shade, and as the name suggests it's a cream formula (which makes it really easy to apply) that dries to a matte finish, but it doesn't dry the lips out which is great!

I more recently purchased the Mega Shine Lip Gloss in the shade 160 Tea Rose, which looks beautifully paired with a smokey eye or a natural everyday look, and looks lovely by itself (for a light pink glossy finish) or over the top of a lipstick for a stronger colour.

The last lip product I have from NYX is the red lip liner in 817 Hot Red. I had a few red lipsticks before I purchased it, so I thought it would be quite handy to have a matching liner to achieve a neater look. I usually apply it all over my lips before putting on the lipstick, which also makes it last a lot longer!
Quick Tip: You can then take a small amount of concealer on a thin brush around your lips to clean up the edges for a clean and crisp red lip.

SUMMER DAY TO NIGHT EYE SHADOW LOOK

It's time for my first tutorial! This look is colourful, bright and simple to recreate - perfect if you want to add some colour to your everyday neutral makeup look (just in time for summer) by adding some purple to your lower lash line!

Step number one is to apply some sort of base (it can be a cream eyeshadow, an eye primer or even just a little bit of concealer), because you need something for the eyeshadows to stick to. It will also make it long lasting so you won't need to worry about any smudging, fading or creasing.

Number two is to apply a light shade of shimmery eyeshadow - like Urban Decay's Sin - all over your eyelid with a shader brush. It's shimmery so it will make your eyes look bright and fresh - perfect for the summer sun!

Step three - take a darker shade of eyeshadow and apply it in the crease with a blender brush. It will make your eye makeup look a bit more interesting and add definition, I used Urban Decay's Sidecar because goes great with Sin.

For step four you want to apply a light purple pencil eyeliner to the lower lash line. I used a Sephora one, but Barry M do great ones as well and they're more accessible in the UK. For this step you could decide to change purple to any other colour you wish, or you could even do more than one colour!

Step number five - apply some pigment (or eyeshadow) on top of the pencil liner in a matching colour to intensify it, then apply some glitter in the inner corner of the eye to add light, blending the glitter into the purple using a small brush.

Number six is probably the most time consuming but adds definition to the eye and makes any eye makeup look awesome. I start off applying the liquid eyeliner from the middle of the eye, going in little strokes to the outer corner of the eye and then extending it to a little flick. I then fill everything in, and the eyeliner is complete!

Lashes are step number seven. I use DUO glue and apply some on the lash band (you don't want it too thick as it will just slide around, but you don't want too little as it won't stick properly).
Once the glue is on the eyelash, I use my tweezers to place it in the middle of my eye, then press down on the sides. After I've done both eyes and the glue has dried, I go over the lash band with the liquid eyeliner to blend everything in.
Quick tip: squeeze some lash glue out some time before application to allow the glue to get tacky - this means they'll be a lot easier to put on.

Step eight is the last one - brows! I use Benefit's Brow Zings with a thin eyeliner brush. Similarly to the liquid liner, I work from the middle, then move to the outer corner and do the inner part last. I apply the tinted wax first then go over it with the powder to set in place.

...And voilĂ  - your beautiful summer eye makeup is complete!

For the rest of my face, I applied foundation, then blended in some concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes, then set everything with a colour correcting power. Bronzer looks lovely with this look, so I put some on using a stippling brush for a more delicate application.

As this is an everyday look, I decided on a light pink shade of lipstick and gloss to match the purple eyes.

If you want to quickly change up your look into more of a darker evening look (or if you just prefer darker shades for every day wear), you can add a deeper shade of eyeshadow on the purple eyeliner and smudge it out using a small shader brush or even a cotton bud to make it look more smokey.
Then add a purple lipstick and you're good to go!

REVIEW: ARK SKINCARE DISCOVERY COLLECTION

I love clean, fresh and smooth looking skin (but then again who doesn't right?) - so I couldn't say no when I got the chance to try out the Ark Skincare Age Prepare range.

When I opened up the parcel the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous scent - it reminded me of products used in a spa, which is always lovely, especially if you want to recreate the experience at home :)

I recieved the Age Prepare 'Discovery Collection'* which contains four 30ml products and comes in a handy mesh bag. It's useful if you want to give the range a go without having to commit to full sizes, or for travelling because they're the ideal size for hand luggage.

There's three ranges designed for different ages (Age Prepare / Age Maintain / Age Repair) , so I got the Age Prepare kit tailored for those in their teens, 20s and early 30s which is all about preparing for the ageing process.

The Skin Refining Exfoliator* (full size 75 ml) is my favourite out of the four, because it makes my skin feel super smooth. My skin is quite sensitive so I use this about twice a week, and I've noticed a huge difference in the way it looks and feels. My face makeup also looks a lot better because there's no little flaky bits as it removes all dead skin cells, and because it contains Margosa Leaf Extract it also prevents new blemishes.

Right now you can also receive a free masque when you purchase an exfoliator - always a bonus!

The Skin Clear Cleanser* (full size 200 ml) is soap free and designed to balance oily and dry areas of the face, which works well for my combination skin. The consistency of this cleanser is very unique, and makes it amazing to apply to my skin and massage in. In the morning I just use it once and remove with a face cloth, then in the evening I usually use it twice - once to remove all of my makeup and then again just to really cleanse the skin.

The Skin Vitality Moisturiser* (full size 50ml) is also a vital step in my skincare routine, I use it right after I have cleansed and exfoliated. It's great because it has a light consistency and sinks into the skin quickly, but gives just enough hydration.

The last product is the Skin Purifying Masque* (full size 75ml). I use this once a week, leave it on for around 15 minutes and take off with warm water and a face cloth. Having used it a good few times now I have definitely noticed a difference - it contains lovely ingredients like Kaolin Clay and Anti-Pollution Algae that make my skin, again, look a lot smoother and clearer.

Overall I have definitely loved using the Ark products I tested out, so I do recommend them if you're looking for some new skincare bits to add to your routine!
As I mentioned before - there's various products designed for different ages, as well as a lot of other products like eye creams, serums and even some body care.

* These products were sent to me to try out, however I provide only my honest views and opinions.
